The Creative Process

This custom, one-of-a-kind painting is a collaboration, artist and client sharing throughout its creation. It begins with Jim listening and immersing himself in the story that will be retold through the Lifestyle Portrait. Working with you, he may even call upon other family members, friends, or colleagues to ensure that he has a complete story to draw from.

The story’s visualization is then launched and goes through an evolution of sketches. With each sketch review, more elements get finalized. The last step before final painting is color placement. There could be as many as four sketches before final color is applied.

A Lifestyle Portrait is a commissioned artwork where the painting is completed for a fee set in advance.
